NEW HOGAR DE AMOR (HOME OF LOVE) CHILDREN'S HOME ORPHANAGE
We are pleased and excited to announce the opening of our new Children's Home (Orphanage)!
Helping Honduras Kids and The Lisa Lopes Foundation invite you to Sponsor a Child at the Hogar de Amor in Agua Caliente, Honduras!
In the town of Agua Caliente, The Lisa Lopes Foundation and Helping Honduras Kids are sharing a wish come true. On Monday, May 7, 2007, Helping Honduras Kids welcomed 19 orphaned children to live in a new 10,000 square foot Children's Home (orphanage) which has been generously made available by the Lisa Lopes Foundation.
About 30 minutes from La Ceiba, this modern building is called, “Hogar de Amor” (Home of Love) and will eventually house 40+ children. We will accept infants and older children and every effort will be made to keep siblings together. Our children at Hogar de Amor will be provided with educational opportunities such as computer classes and English lessons but, most importantly, they will be safe, loved and nurtured so they can enjoy the kind of childhood that every child deserves.
Madrinas y Padrinos, sponsor a child! While the Honduran government does not allow adoption from private orphanages such as ours, we are looking for sponsors for these children who will help support them. In Latin America this is called a padrino or madrina (godfather or godmother.)
Transform the life of a Honduran child for just $25 a month! Becoming a Helping Honduras Kids sponsor gives you the opportunity to build a relationship with one special child who will know you by name as you correspond and share your lives with each other. Your Helping Honduras Kids sponsorship will help to educate and equip your child to build a future free from poverty.
As a sponsor you will be considered to be a member of this child's family, and vise versa. Your emotional support, frequent contact and even visiting “your” child is strongly encouraged. In Honduras you are called a padrino or madrina (godfather or godmother.) Speaking from personal experience, we can assure you that being a padrino or madrina is a rewarding and life changing experience!
Talk To Our Sponsors If you wish to contact some of our present sponsors to gain an insight into their experiences with this program, we will gladly (with their permission) provide their email addresses. Note that unlike other child sponsorship programs, more than 95% of donated funds go directly to our children's programs, since Helping Honduras Kids (HHK) is a completely volunteer organization with minimal overhead expenses.
Letters & Photos Your sponsored child will be very happy to receive letters and photos from you, as this lets them know in a personal way that someone cares about them. The children will write you from time to time, but in Spanish. It's ok to write back to your child in English. An HHK volunteer will read these letters to your child.
Visit Honduras! A visit to Honduras to meet your sponsored child(ren) is a wonderful experience for you and your sponsored kids. Contact us for travel information and suggestions for accommodations.
Volunteers and work groups are welcome too!
Please join us and help support these great kids! | Please sponsor any of the Hogar kids below at $25/child/month. Specify the name and gender (boy/girl) of the child you wish to sponsor.
